For many years now, the pollution rate in India is rising very steeply, and there was a need for a mission like this. Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan urges everyone, regardless of their social status in the society, to make an effort for helping in making India cleaner. It was launched on 2nd October 2014 in New Delhi, because it is the day Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated, and it was one of his dreams to see India becoming one of the cleanest nations in the world. And the launching of the mission was done by none other than our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What is Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and what does it mean?
A mission like this was required as the rate of people falling sick was rising every year due to sanitary problems. There was a lack of initiative from the people of India towards making India clean. The reason was zero awareness and ignorance of Indian citizens about their surroundings. With the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the first goal of the mission was to make people aware of their surroundings and the problems that the waste materials were making. And it was done very effectively by making different celebrities the brand ambassadors of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, which was a clever move by the government as when the heartthrobs of India come together and ask people to do something; people will do it. And it created a drive in the minds of Indian citizens to clean India.

• From a mission like this, the quality and standards of rural India will increase rapidly which is important as there is a huge difference in the standards of rural and urban India which is unfair to the people living in rural parts of India.
• Also, so that the wish of Mahatma Gandhi could be honored of seeing India as a clean and green country.
